Why can't I copy a bio in the app?
The Instagram app does not allow selecting bio text. Here it is plain text on a page.
Can I see an old bio?
The profile is saved each time it is checked, so a snapshot page shows the bio as it was then.
Is the private account bio visible?
Yes. The bio is part of the public card even on a private account.
